Changes to Work Visas in New Zealand.

Recently the government announced changes to the immigration rules. Under the new policies, migrants would need to secure higher ratings on English tests and in some instances people may need to re-sit the approved test for English (speaking, listening, reading and writing). If this affects you or any of your employees, you may know this already but just to recap because there have been changes around wording and the test result scoring.

Information taken from the Immigration NZ website –

English language test results we accept, testMinimum score:

IELTS — General or Academic module – 4 overall

IELTS — One Skill Retake (OSR)  – 4 overall

Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test (TOEFLiBT) – 31 overall

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE academic) – 29 overall

Cambridge English B2 First – 142 overall

Cambridge English B2 First for Schools – 142 overall

Occupational English Test (OET)Grade D or higher in all 4 skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

With the cost of the test between $330 – $600 you want to get it right the first time!

If these changes do affect you,  or anyone you know you might find the Masterclass – Excellence in English course a huge benefit for your spoken English, and ability to listen to English. Plus, by following the written materials that support the videos, you will also practise spelling and writing in English, so it covers all bases.

With a one-off price of $97NZD it is well worth ensuring your English is sharp enough to pass that test.

Or you could simply purchase the manual off the books and courses page on the website or purchased the book off Amazon .

If you are anything like me, I read the reviews before I purchase anything. This is what Jessy said about the course –

“I started the English course and I find it clear, precise and on the spot just like what I am looking for. I feel like my pronunciation automatically goes back to the old one as it hasn’t solidly imprinted in my brain. By hearing and practising the exercises while being busy helps save time and helps with memorising for me as a busy mum. Kids can also learn and practice alongside me while they are playing quietly.”

Have a read of other testimonials on the website, check out the free materials too.

Have a great week, Miriam.

  1. Hi Hamda, if you click on this link Books & Courses at the top of this page, it will take you to the course Masterclass – Excellence in English. When you further click on Find Out More, you will be able to read all about how the content of the course will help you with speaking and listening, and it will also explain how the course achieves this. Great timing too because for the first time in 2 years I am leading a free coaching session on Saturday June 1, 10.30-11.30. The form to enrol is also on the books & courses page. Hope to see you there! Miriam.
